Mission Update Oct 12, 2025

[presented by Northside leadership Sunday, October 12th, 2025]

This morning, I’d like to share some important updates regarding Mark & Melynda Dye and our mission work through them in São Luís, Brazil.

We praise God for all He has accomplished through the many faithful people who have given time, money, and prayer to support and sustain this mission effort to the point it is today. We praise God for His faithful hand in always guiding this mission, and we remain excited about what He is doing and will do through Família em Cristo.

God is dynamic and never ceases to work. Sometimes, this means redirecting our faithfulness and partnerships to follow faithfully. With that, we would like to share some updates regarding the São Luis mission.

  1. Transition Period – August 2026

Starting in August 2026, the Dyes are entering a hybrid transition period. They are prioritizing two tasks as they taper down the time, they are physically present in Brazil:

  • They will continue to build a strong team of local leaders who will faithfully serve Família.

  • They will help Jude prepare for college and God’s good future for his life.

We give thanks for what God has already done, and we pray for what is ahead:for Família em Cristo to grow in maturity and unity, for Brazilian leadership to flourish, and for the Dyes as they complete their work with faithfulness.

  1. God’s Faithfulness Through the Mission

This mission has been an expression of God’s faithfulness all along. Through the three families that initially said “yes,”through this church’s significant financial commitment, and through your continued generosity and financial sacrifice—all of it is simply incredible!

We want to continue to be a part of God’s work in São Luís, but we also want to be faithful to what we have prayerfully considered is our ability to commit to this next phase.

Our goal is to evaluate our end-of-the-year budget as a part of our new One Fund structureand determine on a yearly basis how we might be able to continue to support this team and mission.

  1. Structural and Financial Transitions

Along with that, we wish to be clear about another transition in the logistical structure of the support for the SL team and Mission.

The primary supporting church for the Dyes will now be Brentwood Oaks in Austin, and Northside will continue involvement as a supporting church. We are grateful for Brentwood Oaks’ (and Kerrville’s and Western Hills’) partnership through the years to support the São Luís Team.

Because Brentwood Oaks is now the primary supporting church, Northside will now be sending its funding for the mission through Brentwood Oaks.

While our commitment from One Fund will be greatly diminished,we know some of you have contributed and will want to continue,so the new destination for financial support is here on the screen, and we will also include this in our Family Matters email this week.

The next phase of the mission is not without cost, and the 3-year projected budget deficit currently is approximately $55,000, or $18,000 per year.

We hope you’ll join us in praying for Mark, Melynda, and Jude as they navigate this new season.
