One of the beautiful things we have seen this year is a growing desire to care for marriages and families in a more intentional way. We believe that when marriages are strengthened, families are strengthened — and when families are strengthened, the church becomes healthier.

This year, we hosted a special couples’ event called Conexão 5G: Improving our Love Language Fluency, focused on helping couples grow in communication, empathy, intentionality, and love. The event built on the idea that love is not only something we feel, but something we learn to express in ways our spouse can actually receive. We built the event around the main ideas of a recent revision of the calssic love language book.

Couples reflected on personality differences, Intentionality and Empathy, and the 5 Love Languages and their "dialects", that help each person feel seen, valued, and cared for. The goal was to give couples practical tools and principles for growing toward an Ephesians 5 marriage — learning to love, listen, serve, and care for one another in ways that reflect the faithful love of Christ.

We are thankful for the couples who participated and for the leaders who helped make the event possible. Marriage is beautiful, but it is also complex and often difficult. We bring our stories, personalities, habits, wounds, expectations, and daily pressures into the home with us.

That is why we need each other. We need spaces where couples can be encouraged, strengthened, and reminded that they are not walking alone.

Together, we are growing in the effort to reflect the love of Christ in our homes — learning to serve one another, listen with humility, practice mutual care, and choose daily faithfulness in love.
